Before your Hyperdilute Radiesse appointment

Mitigate the risk of swelling or bruising by taking the recommended Pepcid (famotidine) dose and an allergy medicine (antihistamine) the night before and before your treatment.
Hydrate! Stay hydrated and avoid caffeine and alcohol.
Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements a week before treatment to dodge bruises, unless specifically recommended by your doctor. The biggest culprits for bruising are aspirin, NSAIDs, ginkgo biloba, cod liver oil, vitamins A and E, and fish oil.
To help minimize bruising, try Arnica Montana pellets two to three days before your treatment. In Portland, you can usually find Arnica Montana at Market of Choice, Whole Foods, or Natural Grocers.

After your Hyperdilute Radiesse appointment

Follow the injector’s massage recommendations.
Take it easy at the gym post-injection. Avoid strenuous activity for a minimum of 24 hours.
Skip massages or microdermabrasion on injection day.
Recommended to avoid alcohol, caffeine, spicy foods, and salt to keep swelling at bay for at least 48 hours post-injection.
Avoid extensive sun exposure (even with SPF) and heat for the first 72 hours.
Be cautious of airplane travel for at least the first 72 hours, as cabin pressure can sometimes worsen side effects. We encourage you to wait up to a week, if possible, after filler or stimulator for air travel. Talk to our skilled medical professionals, and we can guide you.
While bruising is not ideal, it will not impact your results. You can take Arnica Montana tablets and topical Arnica cream/gel to heal bruising or swelling, or incorporate Alastin Injection Serum into your skincare routine to speed up healing.
For discomfort, Tylenol or acetaminophen is okay to take. A gentle cool compress (not ice) for 15 minutes each hour can also reduce swelling or pain.
Do your best to sleep face up and slightly elevated, avoiding sleeping on your side or stomach.
