Laser Before and After Care
Before your Laser appointment —
Avoid Sun Exposure:
Stay out of direct sun for at least 2–4 weeks before your treatment.
Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily to protect your skin.
No Tanning:
Avoid all forms of tanning (natural, spray, or artificial) for at least 4 weeks before treatment.
Discontinue Active Skincare Products:
Stop using retinoids, exfoliants, or any irritating products (e.g., Retin-A, tretinoin, AHAs/BHAs) 5–7 days prior to your session.
Avoid Photosensitizing Medications:
Refrain from antibiotics, St. John’s Wort, or other photosensitizing substances for 48–72 hours before treatment, unless otherwise directed.
Shave the Treatment Area (if applicable):
For hair removal or specific treatments, shave the area 1–3 days prior to your appointment.
Do Not Pluck or Wax:
For laser hair removal, avoid removing hair by the root (e.g., tweezing or waxing) to ensure the laser can target the follicle.
No Moisturizers or Lotions:
Avoid applying lotions, sunscreen, perfume, or other products to the treatment area on the day of your session.
Avoid Blood-Thinning Substances:
Stop taking medications or supplements like aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and Vitamin E 7 days prior to treatment. Consult your doctor before discontinuing any prescribed medications.
No Active Skin Conditions:
Reschedule if you have an active infection, open wounds, cold sores, or other skin issues in the treatment area.
Recent Treatments:
Inform us of any recent procedures (e.g., chemical peels, microneedling, or other laser treatments) in the area within the last 2 weeks.
Medical History and Medications:
Share your medical history, current medications, allergies, or conditions like diabetes or connective tissue disorders.
Avoid treatment if you’ve used Accutane in the last 12 months.
For Specific Concerns —
Vascular and Vein Treatments:
Bring shorts if treating leg veins.
Expect possible minor bruising, discoloration, or swelling. Plan treatments to allow healing time.
Tattoo Removal:
Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks before and after treatment.
Avoid blood-thinning medications 3–7 days before your session.
Additional Tips —
Hydration is Key:
Drink plenty of water leading up to your treatment to keep your skin hydrated.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
Disclose if you are pregnant or nursing, as some treatments may not be suitable.

Immediately After Treatment—
Sun Protection:
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for at least 4 weeks post-treatment.
Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily, even if you’re indoors.
Skin Sensitivity:
Redness, mild swelling, or sensitivity is normal and may last a few hours to a few days.
Apply a cold compress or cooling gel to soothe treated areas if needed.
General Care —
Avoid Heat and Sweating:
Refrain from hot showers, saunas, hot tubs, or vigorous exercise for 24–48 hours after your session.
Moisturize and Hydrate:
Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated.
Drink plenty of water to support the healing process.
No Picking or Scrubbing:
Let treated areas heal naturally. Do not pick at scabs, crusts, or peeling skin, as this may lead to scarring or pigmentation changes.
Avoid Harsh Products:
Discontinue the use of active skincare products (e.g., retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, exfoliants) until the treated area has fully healed or as directed by your provider.
Your Post Treatment Healing —
Normal Healing:
Redness, mild swelling, and slight tenderness are normal and temporary.
Contact Us If:
You experience significant pain, blistering, or unusual reactions (e.g., excessive swelling, signs of infection).
You have concerns about your healing process or results.
Your Skin Care Routine —
Gradual Resumption of Products:
Reintroduce active skincare products only after the skin has fully healed or as advised by your provider.
Maintenance Treatments:
For best results, follow the recommended treatment plan and schedule maintenance sessions as needed.
Gentle Reminders —
Avoid Accutane for at least 12 months post-treatment.
Disclose any new medications, skin changes, or health concerns to your provider before future sessions.
By following these guidelines, you’ll support your skin’s healing process and enjoy the full benefits of your treatment.
